NWS issues tsunami products (messages or alerts) based on the region for which the information is targeted. The different regions identified in the NWS products are designated as:
Alaska/BC/US West Coast:
Covering the continental U.S. states of the west coast, Alaska, and the west coast of British Columbia, Canada
PR/USVI/US East Coast/Gulf/Canada East Coast:
Covering Puerto Rico, the U.S Virgin Islands, the continental U.S. states of the east coast and Gulf of Mexico, and the east cost of Canada.
Hawaii:
Covering the state of Hawaii
Pacific:
Covering international interest bordering the Pacific Ocean except for British Columbia, Alaska, Hawaii, and the western continental U.S.
Caribbean:
Covering international interests bordering the Caribbean Sea except for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands
Indian Ocean:
Covering international interests bordering the Indian Ocean
